I was never really a big fan of Jeff Gordon, so I paid little attention to what he did off the track; however, since I became aware of the Drive to End Hunger, I’m paying attention.
It seems all along that Jeff Gordon has been a philanthropist and that his foundation has received more that 10 million dollars which has helped children across the country.
Now it’s time for our older Americans to get some much needed help. The Drive To End Hunger will benefit the older Americans in this country, who go hungry everyday.
Jeff stated; "It just amazes me — millions of Americans are forced to make a choice between going hungry and medicine," Gordon says. "And 6 million of those are 60 or over."
I read that seniors aged 60 to 64 face the highest risk of hunger - substituting fresh foods with fast foods or processed foods to make ends meet. And food banks have limited supplies. Hunger and poor nutrition leave older adults vulnerable to poor health and chronic diseases.
With the attention that Jeff Gordon will bring to this cause there will be more help on the way for those who have spent their lives caring for and giving to others.
I’m paying attention Jeff.
