Safe In His Arms?

When someone we love passes away, we hear, “They’re in a better place.” - meaning Heaven. Or the minister says, “They’ve gone Home to be with the Lord.”   Or as recently in a tribute song for Caylee Anthony - ‘She's safe in the arms of God's good graces.’

People say those things hoping to comfort those left behind, and people listen because they want to be comforted.

But the truth is…It is not the Truth.

In John 3:13 Jesus says, "No one has ascended into heaven, but HE  who descended from heaven: the Son of Man."

All those who have died since the beginning of time lay waiting for Jesus’ return. So, there is no loved one in heaven looking down on you or in hell looking up at you.

When we die, we are in a state of sleep and there we shall remain until Jesus comes to raise us up from our physical death. From our last breath - until the moment we see the Lord coming to get us, will seem like the blink of an eye.

And in that time of sleep, we have no thoughts, no memories of our life, no fears, no hopes, nor dreams - nor will we be signing praises to God.

If you look at Ecclesiastes 9:5 -  you can see that the dead know nothing.

“For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward, for the memory of them is forgotten" (Eccl. 9:5).

The following verse tells you that Christ will come back for all those who are worthy.

"There are many rooms in my Father's home and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly. When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am." (John 14:2-3)

Following are a few of some of the many verses in the Bible which speak of the Second Coming…

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (1 Thessalonians 4:16)

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:17)

In John 5:28-29 Jesus says,  "…an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment."

When that day comes, there will be those who need not hear comforting words from loved ones and friends, for they shall find comfort in the arms of Jesus. For the rest, there will be no comfort.

Think on this as you carry on in your life today...

On the day of judgment and reckoning, God will not ask you how many times you helped your brother - He will ask you how many times you turned your back on a brother in need.

Bartlett's Just Reward

I did not keep up with the Anthony Trial on a day to day basis like some people - because it actually would make me physically ill to look at that sickening poor excuse of a mother who partied while animals ripped apart her baby girl‘s body.

So I just learned by chance about this Matthew Bartlett incident.

So…Flipping The Finger in a courtroom cost this 28 year-old Bartlett 6 days in jail and $623 in fines and court costs and his appeal was denied. His financial information was made available to the public. And Bartlett lost his job at TGI Fridays.

Anyone for finger foods at TGIF‘s!  Ah, I couldn’t resist that one!

Bartlett sure didn’t look like the punk a$$ that flipped the bird when he stood before the judge did he?  He looked more like something with its tail tucked between its legs.

An Act of Contempt such as Bartlett’s behavior in a Courtroom is disrespectful of the judge, the court and our legal system.

No one has the right to deliberately interfere with the court’s process and administration of justice or to make a mockery of the judicial system in the manner in which Bartlett did. It is simply conduct unbecoming of an American citizen.

And saying “I’m Sorry” after you’re caught for the blatant disrespect does not excuse the behavior. It was only proper for the judge to impose an immediate sanction. Should the judge give second chances to one a$$hole, another a$$hole would come along, flip their finger and just say “Sorry” after they‘re caught.

For those people who are saying or implying - What’s the big deal? Or give him a second chance…
Well that sure says a lot about who they are as well. Bet they have as little respect as Bartlett does for people.

Guess they should have read this before leaving those opinions on the Internet.

Records show that this 6 day sentence was not Matthew Bartlett’s first stay in the Orange County, Florida  Jail.

He was arrested  last year on a domestic violence charge from an incident at the home of his parents’ where he had been living. Bartlett had locked himself in a room at his parents home, shouting profanity and later he attacked his father. Bartlett's mother declined an interview after the 'finger incident' stating that she had not seen her son in over a year.

Nice Guy, Huh?

This 28 year old needs to learn what respect is. I’d like to think that  this public humiliation will be the first step - but I somehow doubt it.

I’m ashamed to say I know someone just like this and they have never changed. And they never will change.

Non-Profit Organizations and Foundations

A lot of people get confused on the differences of non-profit and for-profit organizations and foundations. The truth is both foundations make a profit. The difference is - The IRS defines how those profits are to be spent.

Non-profits pay employees reasonable amounts but the remainder of their funds must be used for their particular purpose which was designed to further the public good.

But…This is not always the case! You can’t always believe -

“To raise and distribute funds for Blah…Blah…Blah as well as educate the general public on the importance of Blah…Blah…Blah.”

There are a quite a few unscrupulous organizations who either set-up foundations as:

1) a means of making money by using some cause as a means to pull the public’s heart strings;

2) or their intentions for a cause are genuine, but they use funds for personal use to purchase property etc., instead of putting the funds where they should go.

I can’t help but wonder how these people close their eyes at night when they have taken advantage of well meaning donors. But this is how unprincipled individuals live.

So Before you Donate - Get the Facts. Know with whom you are dealing!

A non-profit foundation must provide for public inspection, a copy of its returns or exemption status application to any individual who requests a copy.

It can be emailed as well as snail mailed, but must be provided within 30 days of a request.

Of course - you can also file a request from the IRS to inspect an organization's return, and/or status. You should have a list of Officers, directors etc., and key personnel- even if they claim not to be compensated.

Should the foundation not have records available with the IRS - due to a failure to file, or the organization is too new and is not required to file until the following year - "Let that be a sign Not to Donate" until there is some proof of good-standing, so to speak.

Once again…Before you Donate - Get the Facts. Know with whom you are dealing!

Surviving Domestic Violence

With the death of Caylee Anthony and the publicity of family abuse, the reminders of events in my life came in like a tidal wave - filled with emotion.

Anyone who has ever suffered through domestic abuse - understands that no matter how much time passes in the world,  you will never feel the same about who you were before someone you loved made it clear that you were nothing to them.

The bruises heal and the scars fade - but the memory stays in your heart forever.

The poetry in this video are words I wrote a couple of years ago. I found this beautiful rendition of  “Songs From A Secret Garden” by Alexander Rybak and it spoke to my heart.

Abuse is a forever memory...There’s nothing else to say…

Caylee Marie Anthony Tribute... She's Going Places

Gary LeVox, Cledus T Judd, and Jimmy Yeary, co-penned a tribute song to Caylee Anthony called ‘She’s Going Places’.

This song, sung by Shane Hines, is about Caylee and only Caylee; and is about all the things she will never have the chance to do - at least here on earth.

Judd was reported as saying, “The greatest way to heal is to help, and that’s what we want to do with this song.”
